Within the ERA-Pilot some specific deliverables will be achieved: There will be a commonly accepted classification of QIST topics, a database of QIST activities and excellence will be drawn, a database of QIST relevant players for communication will be established, measures for fostering European QIST will be elaborated to be implemented by national organisations, etc.
But the end of the ERA-Pilot duration should not freeze these achievements at the respective status quo. To secure the sustainability of the common effort applied within the ERA-Pilot some measures for the time after QIST have to be elaborated. Those measures have to cover maintenance of the databases, supervision of implementation processes, support for national institutions for such implementation measures, support for the European Commission in drawing funding strategies for future Framework Programmes.
To put into practice the work sketched above the ERA-Pilot QIST will be composed of four workpackages (and an additional workpackage regarding project management).
